The people there normally lived in pit houses, usually near the creek. Pit houses are a circular pit in soft soil, that was normally around 3 meters deep. Wooden beams were then built over the pit, covered with bark, soil, and sod. There was a hole in the highest point of the roof, for ventilation and used as a door as well. A fireplace pit was build under the hole which was also used as a smoke hole. In warmer temperatures, they lived in tents.
